FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —The fifth time was really the charm for Falls Township's annual Touch a Truck fundraiser.

This year, the 5th annual charity event —which was held Saturday—raised a record-breaking $20,200.

The donations will benefit The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial aid to families throughout the Delaware Valley who are in need due to recent tragedy or adversity.

In all, Falls Township’s Touch a Truck has contributed more than $50,000 to the foundation.

Organizers tried to make this year's event bigger and better with more large trucks, excavators, towing vehicles, utility trucks, mowers, emergency response vehicles, fire trucks, fuel trucks, construction vehicles and heavy machinery.

Last year’s fundraiser generated $13,000 in donations. Despite having to cancel the 2020 event because of the pandemic, many of the sponsors agreed to have their contributions donated to The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation anyway.

Spearheaded by Falls Township Supervisor Vice Chairman Jeff Boraski and the township’s Parks and Recreation Department, Touch a Truck also educates attendees about how the vehicles serve as first response, construction, farming, and manufacturing use.

Event sponsors this year included: Trash Daddy, Rudolph Clarke, LLC, Premium Excavating, Jones Engineering Associates, CLC Contractors, Yard Truck Specialists, Waste Management, IBEW Local 269, B. Blair Corp, Costello Fuel, Carr & Duff, Armour & Sons, Riley Electric, T&M Fuel, Britton Industries, GPS Hauling, Red Box Plus Dumpsters, Goldey Plumbing, Marie’s Kozy Korner, Selective Vending Services, Area Fence Enclosures Co., Ray Litwin HVAC and Bayard Pump and Tank Company.

The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad, as well as volunteers from Fairless Hills Fire Department, Levittown Fire Co. #1 and Falls Township Fire Co. also attended.
