Prosecutors say a Broome County man will be sentenced to prison after he acknowledged cutting a woman with a knife.

31-year-old Dillon Thomas of the town of Dickinson has pleaded guilty in Broome County Court to second-degree attempted assault.

According to the district attorney's office, Thomas was involved in a domestic dispute with a 39-year-old woman on January 13.

A news release indicates Thomas used a knife causing a cut to the woman's hand which required stitches. He was apprehended later that day by Broome County sheriff's deputies.

Thomas is expected to be sentenced to 1½ to 3 years in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled for November 1.
