Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement (OALE) announced they have arrested Magdiel Echevarria-Martinez of Orlando for tampering with a fuel pump at a 7-11 in Volusia County, Florida.
“I’m grateful to our ag law enforcement officers for cracking down on scammers and thieves, helping protect Florida consumers and businesses from fraud. Vigilance is the key: if you see something suspicious at the pump, please contact us at 1-800-HELP-FLA or 1-800-FL-AYUDA,” said Commissioner Nikki Fried .
On March 17, 2022, OALE opened a criminal investigation after obtaining surveillance video of Echevarria-Martinez tampering with a fuel pump at a 7-11 in Volusia County, Florida. On April 12, 2022, acting on evidence obtained during the investigation, OALE investigators obtained an arrest warrant from the 7th Judicial Circuit for Echevarria-Martinez for the following charges:
On April 14, 2022, Echevarria-Martinez was taken into custody and booked into the Orange County Jail with a $60,0000 bond.
