2:00PM UPDATE: The Emerald Fire is now 100 percent contained and forward progress was stopped at .25 acres. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

10:00AM UPDATE: The fire at Emerald Bay is holding at .25 acres with a hand line in place around the fire. A helicopter is assisting with the fire along with USFS, and other agencies are wrapping up.

8:24AM UPDATE: The US Forest Service - Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) is reporting the fire is 1/4 acre in size at this time with a slow rate of spread. The South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue boat, the Ms. Lisa - Marine 17, responded with a floating pump. The fire was reported at 7:15 a.m. on State of California land, and a full response Calfire, LTBMU, and other area fire departments are there.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Several firefighters are responding to a fire near the mouth of Emerald Bay.

As of 7:45 a.m. Friday, there is no other information but several campers in the area are reporting many sirens can be heard from first responders.
