CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters put out another homeless camp fire on Thursday, this time, behind the Shaw’s on Fort Eddy Road.

Around 3:30 p.m., capital region dispatch began receiving calls about an outside fire in the area, possibly behind the Ford Eddy Plaza shopping center. Dispatch told arriving firefighters they might need a forestry unit to access the area. Concord police also arrived to assist.

Firefighters arrived at the shopping center and confirmed they would need a forestry unit.

Fire command said the area burning was about 10 feet by 20 feet. They requested the forestry unit to bring its wick pump to the area. The forestry unit, however, told dispatch it did not have the pump with them, according to scanner chatter.

Firefighters reported to dispatch about 30 minutes later they had water on the fire. They had the blaze under control at a little past 4 p.m. and began to overhaul the scene.

NEWS 603 posted a video of the fire on Facebook.

Concord firefighters have been sent to several homeless camp fires during the past few months, including one in the historic district of the North End of the city in July and under the Water Street bridge.

Firefighters have been sent behind the Fort Eddy Plaza before for homeless camp fires.

Despite being trespassed from the area, and trees and brush cut down, homeless camps continue to spring up in the area.
