Officials suspect a short circuit at the filling station caused the fire
Two people were killed and three injured in an oil pump explosion in Kushtia on Friday.
The incident took place at Dafadar filling station in Bhemara upazila at around 8pm, Md Nannu Khan, inspector (investigation) of Bheramara police station told Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “Two people died instantly on the spot. The injured were rescued and admitted to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex. However, the identities of the deceased could not be known yet.”
Initially, it is suspected that the explosion occurred due to a short circuit in the pump.
Shariful Islam, station officer of Bheramara fire service station said that the fire is currently under control.
